College Baseball Central Podcast: Week Five Notes

This podcast, after week five of the college baseball season, is a smorgasbord of a few different topics.

First, I touched on the series that we covered in our Couch Surfing series- Louisville/Miami. This was, other than a statement series win for Miami, a great hint at how much fun the ACC race is going to be, not only with how competitive this series was but also with seven ACC teams in the top 17 spots in the rankings. That’s to say nothing of teams like Georgia Tech, who has been in our rankings already this season, Boston College, who already has a marquee series win over NC State, and Wake Forest, who might have the most explosive offense in the league.

I also touch on what I saw this past Sunday, a 2-1 win for Sam Houston State over Northwestern State to clinch their Southland Conference series. A bottom of the eighth inning that included two balks and two errors to allow SHSU to go ahead is officially one of the strangest game-winning rallies in the history of baseball.

Finally, there is some top 25 discussion, as it was a particularly tough week for many of the teams in the rankings. Several teams shuffled spots in the top 25, and four teams dropped out, allowing four new teams to enter.

Thanks for listening.
