Arkansas’ Trey Killian Shines in SEC Action

Trey Killian FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Sophomore Trey Killian allowed an earned run over eight innings of work while striking out seven as Arkansas downs Texas A&M 3-2 in SEC action Friday night at Baum Stadium. The Hogs would get the win on a one-out, walk-off single by Joe Serrano that scored Michael Bernal giving the Razorbacks a win in the series opener of a pivotal match-up, not only for the SEC but also for NCAA Regionals’ aspirations.

Killian retired the first 14 Aggies he faced until Troy Stein reached base on a fielding error by Eric Fisher in the fifth inning. The righty would then retire six of the next seven batters before Stein struck again with a solo homer to lead off the eighth inning cutting the Arkansas lead to 2-1.

The Razorbacks built a 2-0 lead on Clark Eagan‘s offensive efforts, hitting a third inning solo home run and then drawing a seventh inning walk and scoring on a fielder’s choice.

However, Arkansas’ pen couldn’t hold the lead giving up back-to-back hits in the ninth, the first being a double to Jonathan Maroney who would score on the second which was a single by Cole Lankford.

Bernal led-off the Hogs’ ninth with a single to set up the walk-off by Serrano. The Razorbacks and Aggies are on the bubble for the NCAA Regionals making the series this weekend important for post season play.
