North Carolina Tar Heels Announce 2014 Baseball Schedule

North Carolina BaseballThe North Carolina Tar Heels will commence their 56-game regular season schedule with a three-game series at home against the College of Charleston Cougars between February 14-16.

The season opener against the Cougars will commence a 16-game home stand at Boshamer Stadium, whereupon the Tar Heels will depart Chapel Hill for the first time on March 14 for a three-game series against Maryland in College Park.

North Carolina will face fellow ACC competitors in 30 games, including the likes of top ranked conference rivals Florida State, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.

The Tar Heels will commence conference play with a three-game set against Pittsburgh from March 7-9, the first time since the 2009 season that North Carolina will opening league play at home.

The Tar Heels will face conference and in-state rival NC State for a non-league matchup on April 15 in Durham, which along with single game matchups against East Carolina, Liberty, and Elon should make for a competitive, yet exciting season for Tar Heels fans.

“2014 is another challenging schedule for us,” head coach Mike Fox said. “The ACC will once again be very strong and our league schedule will take on a new look this coming season as we host Pitt for their first conference series.

Our players are excited about the 37 games at Bryson Field at Boshamer Stadium.  It is always our hope to field a competitive ball club and one capable of challenging for another ACC championship and NCAA tournament appearance.”

After falling just one game short of the College World Series finals this past year, the Tar Heels will look to advance to Omaha for the seventh time in nine years and capture the first national championship in school history.
