Indiana Hoosiers 2014 Baseball Schedule Released

Indiana Baseball NewsThe Indiana University Hoosiers baseball team will commence their 2014 regular season with a four-game set against the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Lubbock from February 14-16, which will include a doubleheader on Saturday, February 15.

Their 53-game regular season is road-skewed, as the Hoosiers will play just 23 games at Bart Kaufman Field. Indiana will also be subject to a 24-game slate against fellow Big-10 competition, which will be highlighted by matchups against Illinois, Minnesota, and Ohio State.

However, it will be the 29 non-conference matchups that will prove to be the challenge for the Hoosiers in 2014. The Hoosiers will face two teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season in single game matchups throughout the season, those being against fellow College World Series rivals Louisville (three single games) and Oregon State (one game in Arizona).

Other marquee non-conference matchups include Ball State, Kentucky, Indiana State, Miami (OH), and Xavier.

The Hoosiers were impressive in 2013, advancing to their first College World Series in school history where they would come away with a fifth-place finish after being ousted by Oregon State in a pitching duel between staff ace Aaron Slegers and the Beavers’ Matt Boyd.

Last season also marked the first time since 1996 that the Hoosiers won 40 or more games in a single season (finishing with a 49-16 record) and was their second highest win total in school history (Indiana registered 57 wins in 1985).

Indiana will look to continue the impressive run that landed them in Omaha just a year ago in the upcoming season, as they will attempt to repeat as Big-10 conference champions and compete for their first national championship in school history.
