Connner Hale, LSU Tigers Roll in SEC Baseball Action

LSU baseballJunior Conner Hale broke a 4-4 tie with a go-ahead RBI double in the eighth inning helping No. 6 LSU roll up a 9-4 win over Tennessee in the series rubber match on Sunday. Hale would also score an insurance run in the inning on a fielding error on a day in which he also drove in three runs in a 2-for-3 effort with a double and a sac fly.

The  Tigers have rebounded since being swept by No. 16 Florida to win four straight SEC series, going 12-3 since the sweep, while improving to 12-8 in the SEC and have moved to with in a half game of the lead in the SEC West division.

No. 14 Ole Miss completed a road sweep of Kentucky with a 9-6 win on Sunday as Jeremy Massie improves to 3-2 on the year after shutting out the Wildcats over the final four innings of the game allowing only two hits while striking out four.

Will Allen led the Rebel’s offense going 3-for-5 while driving in three RBI and scoring twice as Ole Miss moves into a tie with Alabama atop the SEC West. The Rebels outscored the Wild Cats 39-15 in the series sweep in hopes of improving their chances of hosting a NCAA Regional.

Alabama couldn’t find answers for the South Carolina offense as the Gamecocks pounded out 17 hits in taking the rubber game of the series 9-3 and dropping the Crimson Tide into a tie atop the SEC West. Nick Eicholtz would take his first loss on the year coming in to pitch the third inning after starter Tucker Hawley was tagged for two earned runs on five hits over the first two innings of the game. Eicholtz surrendered four earned runs on four hits and three walks over 3.2 innings of work.
