On this episode of the College Baseball Central Podcast, Joe Healy and Scott Stone recap week eight around college baseball, a weekend that featured a ton of upsets and other notable results from teams inside the top 25.
The pair begins with a discussion of the newest top 25 rankings, which featured the same number one team, Florida, but a lot of change behind them. Also discussed at length were UCLA’s series win over Stanford, Arkansas’ move back up the rankings, the logjam in the second half of the top 25, and the new teams that jumped into the rankings.
From there, they discuss RPI notables, including the surprising ranking for Northeastern, the difference in staying power between Tennessee Tech and Northeastern, North Carolina and Duke’s hosting chances, and TCU’s quickly diminishing chances of getting into a regional at all.
Finally, they preview some of the top midweek games this week, including the bitter rivalry game between Texas and Texas A&M. Both of these teams are tracking as teams that might end up on the hosting bubble, and a win in this midweek game would be huge for either in their efforts to play games at home in a regional. They also discussed why Little Rock’s game against Oklahoma is one to watch.
Thanks for listening, everyone!
