College Baseball Central Podcast: Recapping Week 5 Around College Baseball

On this episode of the College Baseball Central Podcast, Joe Healy and Scott Stone recap the fifth weekend of college baseball action, a weekend featuring upsets galore.

After a bit of off-topic banter about the NCAA basketball tournament and their college basketball viewing habits, they kick things off by discussing some of the most notable results, including Arkansas’ impressive sweep of Kentucky in blowout fashion and NC State’s sweep of Clemson, which launched them into the top ten. They also touched on Wake Forest’s series win over Louisville, Minnesota’s series win over TCU, Auburn’s series win over Auburn, and Baylor’s upset of Texas Tech.

From there, they move into a lengthy discussion about the new top 25. With six of the top 12 teams from last week’s rankings losing series, there was plenty of movement, particularly within the back half of the top ten. By comparison, most teams at the back of the rankings won series, keeping most of those teams in place.

They wrap up by discussing a few of the top midweek games to watch this week, including matchups between UCF and Florida State, Sam Houston State and Texas, Wright State and Indiana, Clemson and Coastal Carolina, and UNLV and Arizona State, which will provide a chance for UNLV to continue to push ever closer to the top 25 rankings.

Thanks for listening, everyone!
