College Baseball Central Podcast: Recapping Super Regionals and Looking Ahead to the College World Series

On this episode of the College Baseball Central Podcast, Joe Healy and Scott Stone recap an outstanding weekend of action in the super regional round, which saw a record six super regional series go to decisive third games, including all four matchups that ran Saturday-Sunday-Monday, and then look ahead to the College World Series beginning this weekend.

Before that, though, they touch on the Twitter discussion surrounding Tim Corbin’s quote that players should consider that they won’t get to play games like these in the super regionals once they get into pro baseball. The hosts ultimately agree that two things can be true here, and that both Corbin and those who say that players in certain circumstances should think of their pro careers first are correct. Listen to the episode for the more nuanced discussion on the topic.

From there, they briefly discuss the coaching carousel, including the openings at Mississippi State and Rice and the hiring of Rick McCarty at Abilene Christian, before jumping into the discussion of the postseason games. Ping-ponging across the country, the hosts discuss all eight super regionals matchups, how each series went down, and the victor’s biggest keys for success moving into the CWS this weekend.

Thanks for listening, everyone!
