College Baseball Central Podcast: Recapping Regionals and Looking to Super Regionals

On this episode of the College Baseball Central Podcast, Joe Healy and Scott Stone recap a crazy weekend of regionals action and look ahead to super regionals this coming weekend.

As a jumping off point, they discuss the awkwardness of the start of the MLB Draft coinciding with the final day of regional play, and how that was put on display for everyone to see during Mississippi’s game against Tennessee Tech when Ryan Rolison was selected. From there, they talk about some of the most notable and surprising results from regionals around the country, including Tennessee Tech’s advancement to a super regional, Cal State Fullerton’s repeated success on the biggest stages in college baseball, and Stetson’s dominance of their first home regional.

They also look ahead to this weekend’s super regional matchups, and touch on a few to watch, including the contrasting styles to be found in the Lubbock Super Regional between Texas Tech and Duke, the marquee mound matchups on offer in the Gainesville Super Regional between Florida and Auburn, and the golden opportunity in front of Washington and Cal State Fullerton in the Fullerton Super Regional, a matchup of two teams for whom a College World Series trip seemed entirely unlikely not so long ago.

Thanks for listening, everyone!
