College Baseball Central Podcast: Previewing Week 14 Around College Baseball

On this episode of the College Baseball Central Podcast, Joe Healy and Scott Stone preview week 14, the final week of the regular season (for most conferences), around college baseball.

They begin, however, by recapping some of the biggest results from the midweek, including Minnesota’s big road win over St. John’s, which greatly helped the Gophers’ host chances, and Indiana’s win over Louisville, which added a much-needed top 50 win to the Hoosiers’ resume. They also touched on ECU’s win over Campbell, Cal State Northridge’s split with UCLA, and Rhode Island’s win over UConn, which was a blow to the Huskies’ hosting hopes.

From there, Joe gives his “nerd alert” pick of the week, which is the Big East showdown between Seton Hall and Georgetown. The Hoyas are fighting to stay in the Big East tournament, which only takes the top four teams from the league standings. With a series win, Georgetown will be in the field. If they lose the series, they’ll fall behind Creighton, whose league schedule is complete and currently sits in fifth place.

Scott’s national series of the week is a tie between the Patriot League championship series between Army and Navy, and the key Big 12 series between Texas Tech and Oklahoma State. In the former, an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament will be awarded, while in the latter, the teams will be jockeying for potential hosting position.

Thanks for listening, everyone!
