College Baseball Central Podcast: Catching Up on the College World Series

On this edition of the College Baseball Central Podcast, Joe Healy and Scott Stone get you caught up on how things stand with the College World Series.

First, though, they discuss some recent news on the coaching carousel. The pair agrees that Matt Bragga at Rice is a solid hire in that he’s a proven head coach that will bring a shot of energy to the program in short order, while also agreeing that there will be some challenges in the role, including recruiting in a very competitive state and dealing with the high academic standards and high cost of attendance at Rice. Joe also briefly touches on the hiring of former Liberty head coach Jim Toman at Middle Tennessee State. Toman brings a lot of good head coaching experience to a program with some upside, MTSU.

In the CWS discussion, the pair talks about the elimination of Texas and Washington, the bullpen struggles of North Carolina, Oregon State advancing to a bracket final in spite of some sloppy play, Texas Tech and Florida battling it out for the right to play Arkansas in a bracket final, and the hot starts for two SEC West teams, the aforementioned Arkansas, plus a Mississippi State team that just continues to find ways to win.
