Chris Ellis, Aaron Nola Solid in SEC Wins

SEC baseball OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss ace Chris Ellis out-duels Arkansas’ Trey Killian as the Rebels pull out a 3-2 SEC win in the series opener. Ellis allowed two earned runs over six innings of work on six hits and three walks while striking out two batters. Ellis improved to 7-0 while stranding seven Razorback baserunners and inducing a double play on the night.

Killian allowed three earned runs over eight innings on nine hits and a walk while striking out five in the losing effort that dropped him to 2-8 on the year. Killian surrendered a run on back-to-back hits by Braxton Lee and Auston Bousfield in the third. The Rebels got to him again in the fourth with a pair of doubles by Will Allen and J.B. Woodman and a single by Will Jameson taking a 3-0 lead.

Tyler Spoon would hit a two-out, two-run triple in the fifth to bring the Hogs within a run but Ellis would get a fielder’s choice ground out after loading the bases on a walk and a hit batsman to get out of the jam.

Aaron Greenwood came on in the seventh and held the Hogs without a hit over the last three innings to record his second save of the year while striking out four.
