MANHATTAN, Kan. - Dillon Peters and Morgan Cooper combined to throw a no-hitter Friday night as No. 20 Texas took a 12-0 series opening win over defending Big 12 champion Kansas State at Tointon Stadium on Friday night. Peters started the game for the Longhorns averaging six hits a start before throwing seven hit-less innings before Morgan came on in relief and closed out the final two innings without allowing a hit.

Peters faced 25 Wildcats and allowed three walks while he struck out eight, just one strike out shy of his season high of nine against Baylor in early April.

The southpaw allowed only two baserunners to reach scoring position in the outing. Ross Kivett reached second after drawing a walk and then stealing second but would be stranded on a fly ball out.

The junior would face his only jam in the game in the seventh when he opened the inning with a walk to Max Brown who would steal second and then advance to third on a groundout. Peters hit the next batter with a pitch to put runners on the corners with two outs before getting Tanny DeVinny to pop out and end the threat.

Cooper walked the first batter he faced then struck out the next hitter before inducing Kivett to ground into a double play to end the inning. The freshman righty pitched a perfect ninth to complete the no-hitter.

The Longhorns’ offense opened up with 19 hits and 12 runs to support the no-hit bid. Madison Carter went 3-for-3 with a homer and fell a triple shy of the cycle while scoring three times and driving in two runs.

C.J. Hinojosa and Tres Barrerra each also contributed three-hit games and each scored twice while Kacy Clemons added a three-run homer to the onslaught.
